Description

This CHICAGO LIMITED cast iron floor train is pictured in Rick Ralston's renowned book Cast Iron Floor Trains as a 3-piece set ( No. 566, page 140 ). The locomotive and tender shown here, and the coach shown directly behind the loco in the first two photos are the very ones that appear in CIFT. In addition, t he locomotive and tender are also the examples photographed as No. 856 on page 179, and the coach is the example photographed as No. 1554 on page 271. Rick assembled the unique 4-piece set shown here years after CIFT was published, when he located a second CHICAGO LIMITED coach. As the photos show, this added coach is a nearly perfect match except for the color on its clerestory roof, which is a different shade of red. According to Rick, the 4 pieces in this set are the only such examples known to exist . The 2-4-0 locomotive measures 9-1/8" long. It has a crack at the tender tab, right side (see photo). Both coaches are 14-3/8" long, embossed 903, and rubber stamped CHICAGO LIMITED. Study the photos, consider them part of the description, and use them to judge this set's condition for yourself.
